Hey you kids, get off my lawn!

Last night I was fighting with my graphics card. I am GOING to make it do what I want to get the pictures I want! It's a decent little card [nVidia GeForce GTS 250], although I'll probably be asking for a new one for Christmas if someone will help me decide on one that is great for SL but doesn't cost more than my car. I messed around last night with taking pics, then playing with Photoshop [another thing I plan on getting better at one day] until I came up with this pic. I don't know, I think it's pretty cute.

Dragging him around

Of course, I might be biased about it being cute just because of who is in it. :-p

I ended up messing around with other things today for my style blog pic and ended up getting a setting that I was more agreeable with. So we'll see. I'm still getting a line in my pics when I have shadows on and am using a bigger picture size. If anyone knows how to fix that, please tell me!!

So anyway, while I was trying to put together another look to blog for tomorrow, I heard little giggles. Kids aren't usually on the island [they are welcome, of course, but none of us who live here have them] so that was odd. And then? I started hearing EGGS SLAMMING AGAINST THE HOUSE.

Tricked!!

Oh HELL to the no. That paint is FRESH on the house! I ran downstairs to catch the culprits. And then shoot them...because I'm from Texas and that's what we do.

Eggs everywhere!!

Aww....well. If they weren't so cute, I'm sure the damage would have been worse.

Flippin Kids!

Of course, Halloween isn't until tomorrow. If this is what we get the day before, tomorrow I better be sitting outside on the porch with a bat.

Plain and dumb

The month is almost over, and wow...what a hell of a month. lol Getting used to married life, finding out things that I wish I hadn't had to find out... But it's been a balance of bad and good, I guess.

Thinking about stuff

So now that things are settling down for the most part, it's time for me to get back to doing more for the style blog. But there's a problem.

I have no style.

I was going through a fashionista crisis yesterday trying to figure out something to blog. Al, sadly for him, came in in the middle of my crisis. He tried to calm me down, but mostly all I got out of it is that my blog is more of the "ready to wear, off the rack" sort rather than the magazine type fashion that I admire in other blogs. He says I don't accessorize as much as other bloggers, which I agree with. But in my offline life, I don't accessorize much either. I wear the same couple of rings and occasionally I put earrings in or wear a necklace, but that's about it. So it's not easy for me to know what goes together in SL. I know what I DON'T like. I know what looks BAD. But I can't figure out how to put things together to look good. I probably also need to really get ruthless with my inventory and see what it is I have, because honestly, I don't know most of the time anymore.

We ended up going shopping a bit last night. He's in need of new clothes and I just needed to get some ideas of what I want my style to be. Because truly? I don't know anymore. I like what I like, but I don't have a set style. At least, not one that I can think of a name for.

Blah. #secondlifegirlproblems

What do you guys think? Can you label my style? Do you think I even actually have one? I'm not asking for compliments or to have my ego stroked, please don't think that. I just wonder once in a while about why I have a style blog. I love - LOVE - to promote things that I like, and I guess that's the main reason I have the blog. But I don't want to just be taking up blog space looking plain and dumb. Does that make sense?

Oh hell. I guess if I didn't want to take up blog space looking plain and dumb, this blog would have gone away years ago! LOL

It's a nice day, so I think I am going to go out and blow the dust off.

Halloweenie

I'm DJing tonight for the Oleanders' Halloween party. It's the first party I've done in a while, and I'm happy about it. The only thing better is if my husband could come, too, but he's DJing tonight out in the physical world. Did you all know he's a real DJ? I don't know if I've ever mentioned that before. I keep telling him he needs to do it in SL, too, but he claims he plays mostly old man music. Hey, I like old man music!!

But since he's not here, we didn't get a chance to do costumes together like we did last year when we went as sparkly vampires. I wanted to be Little Red Riding Hood but I never did find an outfit I liked. Either they were too ugly or too "sexy." Or too ugly while attempting to be sexy. So I settled on this adorable Alice In Wonderland costume from Deviance that I've had my eye on for a while. Combined with an oldddd Halloween skin from Free Speerit, and some tattoo layer bloody cuts, I feel spooky and cute all at the same time.

It's not exactly Wonderland...

In the field

I'm starting to wonder if I should make my shoes blue. I made them red to match the Heart and Diamond on my apron, but now I'm wondering if that makes it more Dorothy than Alice.

I guess I should get back to work putting the playlist together and digging out my tip board and all that fun stuff. I DJ so rarely, everything always gets lost!

All we wanted was some organic food!

So earlier today, Rylan grabbed Ulaa and me and brought us to see baby furniture. After all, she's pregnant and baby stuff is on her mind.

Baby rooms

There were lots of full nursery rooms, and also rooms of furniture for toddlers to teens. If I had a kid, this would be her room.

Oh, and that is Mommy Rylan doing handstands. I don't know HOW her baby is going to come out with all the shaking.

Wheeee

After the furniture trip, we decided we needed to swing by the grocery store. After all, we must eat! And Rylan needs to start stocking up on baby formula and diapers, too. You can never have too many diapers! We decided to go to the Pleasantville Grocery Store because they have organic food.

Rylan found baby stuff

And I found pie! Y'all know how I love pie!

Hmm... pie

So somewhere during the shopping trip, Ulaa got hot and lost her top. We're pretty sure she just wanted to start a new career as being the only hooker in Pleasantville. She's even on FUNKY Avenue!

Pleasantville has hookers now

Rylan and I were going to hit the skating rink [I'm telling you, she's an active pregnant lady!] while Ulaa was working on the corner, but when we showed up, people were already there.

Watch out, Rylan!

Pretty sure, just by their conversation, that they were totally lost.

I think they're lost

So very lost.

So very lost

Then they said Rylan was ugly. If we weren't afraid of that woman's ass, shit would have gotten real, y'all!

Also, the woman seemed to want to take Ulaa's place as the new Pleasantville hooker!! What the heck?? You can't just be taking someone's hooker spot. There are rules, you know!

More hookers

Pleasantville wasn't so pleasant anymore, so we got our groceries, covered Ulaa's boobs, and went home.

Just a normal afternoon!

It's how it goes!

I was wandering around the house when I realized something.

This wall? Too empty!

This wall needs something

I poked around in my home decor folders but I realized I might have to go shopping. So I did what anyone else would do and hit the blogs.

Let's check blogs

There are some great blogs out there for home decorating but I knew I'd need to do some foot work to find exactly the right piece. Also, if I stayed home much longer, I was going to grab the pie on the table and just curl up and eat. Just in case Aldwyn came home while I was out, I left him a note on the fridge.

The note

I hit up Art Dummy, because I'm an art dummy. They have some great things, but not exactly what I was looking for.

That might work

Oh...well, jewelry is considered decor, right? Decor for my fingers and ears and neck!

Jewelry is considered decor

I remember one time I b..... Ooh, sweaters!!

Ooh sweaters

I bought my photo tree here. Maybe they have another kind? Maybe...

I did buy decor here once

Can't resist gacha!!

Gacha!

Gosh, I got so many nice things while I was out! It was really a very successful shopping trip, and I'm pretty sure that pie is still on the table, and...

Oh wait

Oh right. The wall.

Well, maybe it'll just stay empty for now.

There's always just so much to see!

Usually my Saturdays are family days and I spend the day with my folks. But on occasion my parents don't have a great night and we rearrange our plans. Today was one of those days, so I decided to set off and do a little exploring in SL.

I opened the Destination Guide and ended up at the Sherwood Haunted Graveyard. It wasn't really that scary to me, but it was kind of cool.

Hi skelly!

Yeah, I'm still wearing the same clothes as last night. Shut up.

There was a fridge inside a shack that ate me up and spit me out.

Spit out

And then a skeleton that tried to grab me. I don't quite get my pose in this picture, because I would think that should a skeleton try to grab me, I'd be trying to run, but whatevs.

Skelly Grab

After I finished up there, I remembered that a while back for a style blog pic, I had gone to The Looking Glass. I had thought it was neat, but never truly looked around. So I spent a great deal of time walking around there today. It's a neat neat sim to explore!

A bit of an Alice moment.

An Alice Moment

I'm so meant to be on stage!

On the stage

I tumbled down off a wall and ended up here. Pretty!

Pretty

There was a great landscaping shop there, too, and I think I might need to go back and do a little shopping. I hear they have live music and poetry readings out there sometimes, so I might have to look into that at some point.

I saw some other places in the Destination Guide that I want to check out, but now I think it's time for lunch and go get out of the house for a bit. :)

What power? Power of voodoo!

A while ago, I was looking for a cross necklace that wasn't overly gothy or overly huge, and I stumbled into B&B Spiritual Supplies. They didn't have the necklace I wanted, but it's become one of my favorite shops and one that I enjoy poking into now and again.

B&B Spiritual Supplies

Since Halloween and Samhain and Dia de los Muertos are coming up, the subscriber group has been getting some goodies. Actually, every month we seem to get some little trinket, which is pretty cool. I love when creators remember to treat their group members!

In the supply shop

It's seriously the coolest little place to look around, and there's all kinds of things for the home or for you. It's not terribly pricy either and a lot of things are transferable. If you stop by, be sure to check out the whole place, even the little shack that has some wreaths and garland for the spooky season. I think I want to buy a voodoo doll! Bwahaha!

As much as I love fashion, my favorite thing in the world is to find little offbeat non-fashiony type of shops in SL. Do you know of any that I would enjoy checking out? :)

If you lived here, you'd be home by now!

Oh hi! Are you looking for a nice place to live with great neighbors and stuff? Welcome to Bluebonnet!

Okay, so for real, I have two small parcels for rent right now. [Or one big one. I can join them together.] Parcel #1 is 3312sqm and has 758prims. And Parcel #2 is 2944sqm and has 673prims. I am a pretty easy going landlady. As long as you don't put up any ugly or overly large buildings on the ground, I pretty much let you do what you want with your parcel. You're able to terraform and control your access list. The island is usually fairly quiet and lag free. I'm huge on checking scripts and anything causing collisons so that we can all have the best experience on the island.

What else? If you rent one, you can live near Aldwyn and me!

I like to rake leaves

Or near Heidi & Black and their springtime parcel!

They have spring on their parcel

Aisuru's parcel is always really tastefully done and gorgeous.

Aisuru's lovely home

Or if you're into the more whimsical stuff, Emerald usually has a ton to look at!

Emerald's place of wonder

If you're interested in checking out either parcel, please feel free to IM me and I'll be happy to show it to you and discuss renting!

Oh. It probably would have been awesome had I taken a picture of the parcels rather than just running around to all the neighbors' yards, huh?

A railing would be good...

We're busy at work in the backyard tonight so we can finally get things done and ready for a housewarming party. :)

Totes working

Oh... Well, the building of a patio really IS more of a man's job.

Since the husband has been busy recently, and I didn't have anything else to really decorate, I finally got off my butt and went to get my stamp rally cards stamped so I could pick up my prizes. Omg, how cute is that dollhouse from Mocha???

My doll dreams can come true

The cool part about it is that it comes with all the furniture and I really like some of the pieces so if/when I get bored with what we have in our house now, I can switch out pieces now and then. Too too cute! I really did feel like a little doll running around in there. I love dolls and dollhouses, but they do always tend to remind me of the book "The Dollhouse Murders" that I read when I was younger. Did you all read that? Flippin' creepy for a kids book, but man, did I love that book. That and "Wait Till Helen Comes." Eeee! I'm creeping myself out now.

But I think my favorite prize is the Chemical Light AO. I have been running around with the AO on holding the light stick, but I love to just dance with it too.

Colors!!

Pretty!

Oh. I think Al needs some help...

You're the lace in my shoe

As much as I love pink, I started to think that all the pink in the master bedroom was too much pink. Especially since, you know, I don't live by myself anymore and this is OUR bedroom as opposed to just MY bedroom. So I set about today and changed the wallpaper, and then set up the room with stuff I forgot I had bought. Al seems more comfortable in the room now.

Together

"It was a lot of pink."
"Yeah, and I know how you love punk. Pink."
"Haha! You totally typoed when you spoke. You spoke-oed!"

Things in the house are progressing nicely. I really only have to finish up the dining room and I think that'll be that for inside the house. We want to have a housewarming party when it's all done. Maybe in the backyard!

The back shot

I'm thinking I might just let Al do most of the backyard. After all, I've done pretty much everything so far inside and this is his house too. He was talking about a brick something or other, like for the grill. Like I told him, he can totally do what he wants. Of course, if I don't like it, I'll change it, but he said he expects that. :-p

He did put out his grill. Then I put out the cows.

Mooooo

It's actually RAINING here tonight, and the air is totally cool, so I think I'm going to go snuggle into bed and enjoy it. Goodnight!

Playtime

I didn't feel like doing much to the house today. I need to, but I dunno...just wasn't feeling it. There are just some days that you need to take a break and play. Maybe I'll be more interesting tomorrow. Or not! :)

Playtime

More decorating

God, what a lazy Sunday. I've been having massive crazy sinus/allergy issues the past few days, so you guys know how that can take it out of a person. I actually spent most of the day playing Dragon Age again. I get bored of games fairly easily, but that one draws me back again and again.

But that didn't mean I didn't get in to decorate more! Today I worked on our bathroom and part of the living room. I've also been trying to work on the master bedroom, but I *think* I'm going to want the wallpaper to be changed. I like pink, and I even found a bed in my inventory that matches the walls, but it's just....too MUCH pink for me. I know, right? That actually just came out of MY mouth. And if it's too much pink for me, then it's really too much pink for it to be a shared bedroom.

I worked a little bit outside too, just adding this and that. I really do love this house.

I love this house

Tomorrow I think I'll finish up the dining room, and maybe start working on the backyard. And maybe the husband and I will actually get to see each other in the house for more than 10 minutes! Now that would be nice! :)

October Love

You know, every year around this time, I start to get Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's been this way since my late teens/early 20s and I've learned to...well, I'd say cope, but somehow that doesn't quite seem like the right word. I get through it, I should say. Long time readers of this blog know that November is my big bad awful month, but I quite like October in general. Yeah, I might have bad days, but I enjoy pumpkins and cooler weather and decorating for the season. I've been burning pumpkin & cinnamon candles, and in my head, that's how our SL home smells. And I'm unleashing autumn colors all over our new house.

October love

Each room that I put stuff in, each time I look around at our home, I get a little giddy. Ulaa kept saying she thought this house was too big, and maybe she's right considering we don't REALLY have the need for 3 bedrooms, but I like it.

I just hope Aldwyn likes having a pink bedroom... because I think that's how it's going to go.
