So last week sometime, I saw a pic in my Flickr contacts with a girl on a really awesome looking bed. Naturally I ran to Plurk asking where the pretty bed was from and one of my buddies pointed me over to LAQ Decor. I hadn't been over there since their houses were first released, so I wasn't aware that they were making furniture. I have to admit, I wasn't exactly into the houses back then, so I kind of just wrote off the store. But man, the furniture?? AMAZING. Seriously seriously pretty stuff.
I didn't buy the bed after seeing it on marketplace because another bed landed in my lap and, quite frankly, I have a LOT of beds already. I'm a sucker for furniture, what can I say?
Earlier today I was browsing marketplace and came across a toilet from LAQ Decor. Well, I may have a lot of beds, but I don't have a lot of bathroom stuff. I'm not really happy unless I can see home stuff in front of me, so when Aldwyn got online tonight, we went off to check the store out.
While we were there, I fell in love with a coffee table that was part of a sofa set. It was just so cute and JUST what I wanted AND it was only 2 land impact!! The problem was that they didn't sell the coffee table by itself! Now I understand that the big money is in people buying the whole set of stuff, but I just really really wanted the one piece.
Aldwyn is pretty used to my indecisiveness [and my spontaneous decorating] so he sat around with me while I played with the poses on the floor model of the sofa, and played with the colors on the bed. But then I guess he was tired of sitting because he bought me both the sofa set and the bed [which also came with nightstands & lamps!] to 1, make me happy, and 2, get me out of the store. Of course, we WERE having a good laugh over a guy that was there who claimed to be an "advanced builder" and also a collector of fine furniture [gonna guess he also has many leather-bound books, and his apartment smells of rich mahogany] who was walking around with a flexi ponytail and guns strapped to his thighs, so maybe he just wanted to make me happy. And happy I was as we came back home so I could put out my new pretties.
The coffee table is actually just a smidge smaller in our living room than I thought it would be. I'm a terrible judge of size and think most things are bigger than they actually are. [*snickers* Shut up.] But, it's mod so I was able to make it bigger. Then, even though I was just working on the bedroom the other day, I picked up our bed and nightstands and put out the new ones. The bedroom is definitely not finished yet, but I really like how it's coming along so far.
The house is definitely coming together, slowly but surely. Eventually I've got to get back outside and work on the landscaping, but one thing at a time. For now, it's time to get into our gorgeous new bed and go to sleep!

Day 198 - Close Enough
The house is coming together slowly but surely. Tonight I spent time on the two bedrooms, primarily in the master bedroom. I just love putting out all the tiny things that bring a room together, like the tablet on his nightstand, and the glasses on top of the books on mine. It's just a small detail, but I think it makes such a difference in a room.
The outside...well, I haven't worked on it very much. I still haven't found the perfect garden set but that'll come soon. I did get to go to a new-to-me store thanks to one of my blog readers. [Hi Annaluisa!] Frog's Garden is a very pretty little store with some cute landscaping items. I didn't find exactly what I wanted, but I did find these flowers that are similar to bluebonnets!
They're not bluebonnets, but hey, close enough.

Day 197 - Spontaneous Decorating Spurt
For the past three days, I've been having issues getting started on decorating our new house. I have a certain style that I love [boho/eclectic/shabby chic] and really, that kind of style can't be planned in a way because it's very free. [Hi, my name is Rain, and my purse is a lunch box from the 70s.] So for three days I've been throwing furniture out, getting mad, taking it back, throwing more out, and probably being pretty annoying. Luckily, Aldwyn is understanding of my quirks, so he didn't smack me around or anything.
The plan for the other side of our new little creek is to have it be like a little farm, but I can't seem to find any good vegetable gardens. We went to a few places tonight to look at some that I'd seen on marketplace, but they weren't what I really wanted. [Btw, did you know that farming is kind of a thing in the Gorean places? I had no idea!] If ANYONE knows of any places that sell good looking gardens for the ground, please let me know!
After our trek around some stores, we came back and the creative inspiration hit me. Aldwyn called it my spontaneous decorating spurt. Hey, Rain cannot be forced to be creative, you know!
It's not NEARLY done, and I still have 4 more rooms to decorate, but at least we have a place where we can sit and be comfortable. My goal for tomorrow is to get at least the master bedroom done, and possibly the bathroom. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect kitchen, and I have a few kitchen sets from Funky Junk and The Loft, but I think I might need to really rip something apart and put it together to make it all work the way that I want.
My cat is staring at me, so I guess she's ready for bed.

Day 196 - A little pond time
We finally got our new house today!! Oh it's just lovely and has so many great features. No pics yet because I haven't started decorating, but I can't WAIT to fill the house with furniture!
What I ended up doing tonight was get started on the landscaping. So far tonight I've managed to put in a creek and a waterfall and a pond. I think I'm happiest with the pond right now. There's still a ton of work to be done but I'm just falling asleep. There's always tomorrow!

Day 195 - We're so valentine.
I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! I mean, really? How could you NOT have a great one with that WHOLE TEN LINDENS that LL gave us if we had logged in yesterday before 7:30pm SLT? I, of course, spent part of mine wisely and got this dollarbie tree and this hearts headband. $2L, y'all! Woooo!
Ulaa came to sit with my on my cow since we're still homeless. But I guess she got tired of the cow because she said she was going to go finish our new house because it's all kinds of sad over on our parcel.
So no worries, y'all. This might be the last cow pic for a while!
I have something to actually discuss later but it's late and I have to get up early.

Day 193 - Spring Is Back!!
And before we knew it, the Grand Bluebonnet Mountains sunk back into the ocean until next winter and springtime hit the island.
I'm so excited!!! Now this is DEFINITELY not how our parcel is staying as far as landscaping goes, not at all, but it'll do for the moment. I can't wait to really get in there and start terraforming and making things look good!!

Day 192 - Getting Ready To Say Goodbye To Winter
Aldwyn is a little under the weather tonight, so I hung out on the island tonight making plans for when spring hits this week. I have so many ideas, but we'll see if anything actually comes out like I have planned in my head. :) There's a huge divide between Idea and Skill.
But I really have enjoyed our winter parcel this year.
We've been going around to different stores looking for landscaping things lately. I gotta say, mesh really really has upped the landscaping game. There's some really great stuff out there.
I'm tired and I hear thunder. I think it's time to grab my cat [who is scared of thunder like I am] and go bury the both of us in bed under blankets.

Day 191 - Daisy Smooch
We went out tonight to look at landscaping stuff for when spring comes to Bluebonnet. But well, you can only do so much shopping before you need to take a break.
I just can't wait to start landscaping again!!! As much as I love winter on the island, I am always always ready for spring. And there is SO MUCH great mesh landscaping stuff out there now! I really just can't wait!

Day 190 - So Ready For Spring
Oh my goodness. I had like, the worst few days. Well, okay, I exaggerate. But they did kind of suck! My car broke down on me on Saturday and it was a huge ordeal as the garage I take it to isn't open on weekends and I sure wasn't going to leave it up there for 2 days so there were tow trucks and lots of phone calls and I was just a huge mass of anxiety. I mean, let's be honest here. Do ANY of us have loads of extra money for this stuff?? Nope! But we managed and now my car is back and I'm grateful it's all over with. Where I live, if you don't have a car, you might as well be in prison.
But, now that that's all taken care of, I'm back in SL and holy cow. Do I need to clean my inventory. BADLY. I keep just inching and inching up there to a number that is ridiculous. It's getting to the point of where I don't have a lot of just crap to throw away any more, though. And I hate boxing up stuff because if I box it up, I really might as well just throw it away because I almost never go back into the boxes and then I just start hoarding boxes.
While going through some stuff today, I found my favorite little mesh bikini. Then I looked outside. Still snowy.
That's going to be changing soon, though. I've already felt the rumblings of the Great Bluebonnet Mountains as they prepare to descend back down into the depths of the sea until next winter, and the forecast is predicting that spring will come again sometime next week.
