Meow fuckin' meow.

They say that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result. I think I've reached that with these freaking cats.

My two Valentine cats had yet another generic. Then Ulaa and I got her Leprecat and my Flame cat together and had...another generic cat.

Dios mio.

Hey, I get it. Breeding cats is not going to be my new SL business. Hell, it's not even SL fun anymore. All I ever wanted was one cat to recover the money I've spent and then I would gracefully retire. Instead I've had a succession of fairly generic diamonds and smokeys and it's making me very [ungracefully] bitchy. So enough.

Katey Coppola from Glitterati has donated a small space for Plurkers to sell their kitties, and so I went over there tonight to drop off a few, including the two new babies I had today. The dark kitten has fire eyes, if you are looking for fire eyes. There were a few really nice cats up there when I went to look, and they seem to be at decent prices, so check it out.

Yeah, you're right. I still have cats at home. I have my Leprecats since they were an anniversary gift. I have my pink Valentine's cat and my Flame. And I have the two new Diamonds I got in the past few days. But 6 cats are better than 11, right? If the Leprecats don't have a decent kitten this week, they'll be set to non-breeder status. The V-day cat and the flame have already been set to non-breeders. That will definitely help out.

--------------------------------

In non-kittycats related news, I'm having a hump day party tomorrow! The theme is Fashion Disasters, so bling it UP! I want to see bling, oil, bad hair and ugly shoes! I'm even pulling the party ball out for the occasion. :) We haven't had a hump day party in a long long time so I'm super excited!!

He wasn't totes winning!

So last night Aldwyn and I were at his place and flipping through some animations. Don't be dirty. He was just flipping through looking at them while I was searching for a camera and plurking. It was all innocent. While that was going on, I get an IM. It's a guy, and he apologized if I saw his crosshairs on us for a second. He was just camming around and saw us on the bed and cammed out.

Well, considering I almost never have my crosshair things on [they annoy me and I don't generally care if people are looking at me.], naturally I didn't notice. And even if he'd stared - hey, we were dressed and nothing was going on. Then he said that he noticed that I wasn't partnered to the guy I was in the bed with.

Oh. Here we go.

Al and I were on Skype, of course, so I was telling him all of this as it was going. The guy seemed nice enough, but there was that thing that made me think that had I given him any encouragement, he would have tried to dirty talk me. I hate when guys try to dirty talk me when I have no interest. But to his credit, he managed to not do it.

Ulaa came over and we told her the story, and we noticed that he was still at his place. What do three awesome people do in this case?

Boating

Hell yeah, we went over.

Well actually, we were just going to boat past, but sim crossings are a bitch, as we all know, so at some point we got stuck in front of this guy's house, went flying through his house, and then Al and I kinda got stuck in his roof. Fucking ninjas, yo.

He decided to jump in the boat with us for a while.

The new guy

Then he pulled out his boat and we raced around for a while.

[00:04] Alicia Chenaux: omg this is totally like a movie.
[00:05] Ulaa Coronet: but like you need hot chicks!
[00:05] Alicia Chenaux: yeah, if you had a hot chick on your boat, you'd be #winning.

We're basically assholes, if you didn't know.

After racing around for a while, we went over to his house and got out without being invited. What? He didn't ask to get in the boat!!

[00:16] Alicia Chenaux: We're nosy neighbors. Can we borrow a cup of sugar?
[00:17] New Guy: please excuse the dirty marks on the floor
[00:17] Ulaa Coronet: Help
[00:17] Alicia Chenaux: Oh. I need to borrow your VCR.
[00:18] New Guy: lol aren't you supposed to start with cups of sugar and build up?
[00:18] Alicia Chenaux: Oh.
[00:18] Alicia Chenaux: Oh, I also need to borrow your car.

His girlfriend [at least, I guess it's his girlfriend] showed up and because sometimes we're not assholes in public, we were polite and left. And never did we laugh at her for wearing 2 pairs of shoes at once.

At least, not to her face.

But I think we proved yet again why people don't hang out with us too regularly.

Hehe...it doesn't fit.

Kittypalooza

I seem to spend more time outside my house than inside these days, either on the porch or on the balcony.

Outside

I think this has more to do with the kitty extravaganza that's going on inside the house than it does have to do with my love of my landscaping.

Audrey and Desi had another baby yesterday. Unfortunately, it was nothing special. Just a female smokey with blue eyes, exactly like the male one I got from the starter pack. Terribly disappointing. I'm giving them one more time to produce a kitten I can sell [and sell for a decent price] before I snap them back to non-breeders. I know that seems a little selfish, but quite honestly, I cannot afford to keep plugging money into this experiment with food and milk for 8 cats and get nothing in return. And it takes a week for them to be able to breed again, so it's just... time AND money consuming.

George and Emma, my Leprecats, will most likely pop out a kitten in the next couple of days. Griffin is ready to go, but Sabine won't be ready for probably 3 more days. Tony and Lucy just now started gaining love after their week of recovery or whatever, so I guess it'll be a week before I get anything out of them.

If in 2 weeks, I don't get anything good to sell, I'll give away Griffin and Sabine, most likely, and the other 6 will go back to being non-breeders. I like them and all, but good God. My budget has a limit!

And so do I.

Basic viewer is basic

So Rodvik Linden introduced us to the fun that is basic mode to the SL viewer. Supposedly it's to help people when they first come to SL if they get basically the Fisher Price version of a viewer before they put on their big boy/girl pants and move to the real viewer.

Well, I obviously couldn't pass it up, so I downloaded the beta viewer, set it to basic, and yanked my alt, Piper, out of retirement and put her to work. I wasn't going to do it myself, obviously. What if I mess something up? Poor Piper. She gets the short end of the stick on so many levels.

Logging in, you discover immediately that when they say basic, they're not whistlin' Dixie. You have no inventory, no landmarks, no way that I could see to set the lighting, and no money. You get to pick from a bunch of avatars on the bottom row and that's what you get. You can't even mix and match items from different avatars.

Basic - Pick a look

Piper is usually more of girly badass type normally, so this was about as close as I could find.

There is a How To button so you can learn things like how to move around, how to change your view, how to find places to go, etc.

Basic - Learn to move and stuff

When you open up the People tab, there's a minimap. This is actually in the Advanced beta viewer as well, and is a feature that I like.

Basic - Mini map in your friends list

Of course, there was no one on the island at the time because people have lives.

This is all well and good up on my photo platform, but we needed to find somewhere to go. However, you don't have search. I guess Search is too scary for new people? So you get Destinations instead. Okay, great. I clicked on Fashion For Life and off Piper went.

It was nighttime on the sims there, so she couldn't see much. And the worst thing of all?

Basic - No shopping for youuuuu!

NO SHOPPING!!!!!

Oh, and it has that point and click and walk thingy that Hamlet Au is so crazy about, but I kind of found it dumb. Probably because I was mousing over items and ended up walking on top of them because my finger jumped and clicked the button. Noob style, yo.

Needless to say, if you've been in SL for more than a week, basic is not for you. Piper was quite happy to get back to normal.

Basic - Back to normal

She might keep that outfit, though.

I have one real question about this whole thing.

How DUMB are people these days?!

Many of us have been in Second Life for years and managed to survive. They took away choosing a last name because it apparently scared people to have to pick a last name by themselves. They have to dumb down a viewer so much because folks can't learn to walk without having their hand held. Hey, you know, I complained too when the viewer changed but I got used to it. My brain works just enough that I can figure out that oh, this little button on the sidebar is my inventory! Exactly HOW is this basic viewer supposed to keep people here? It's not like anyone can help them out with helpful landmarks and freebies. They have no inventory! No one can let them stay on their land. They can't teleport home! No, really, they don't have the ability to teleport home!

I'm not a super smart person and I don't know much about business, but I do know that this basic viewer needs to be a little less basic because the last thing we need are more really dumb people walking into Second Life.

Pretend this is an awesome title!

So you know what yesterday was? Nine months with Aldwyn! I KNOW.

He's still pretty awesome. :) How many men would put up with my quirks, my kittycats, and still look forward to talking to me every day? Not many!!

Last night we were standing around and I said, "Hey, you know where I haven't been in a long time? Sine Wave." And he was totally down for going to see if there was even anything new.

Dancing!

For the record, there's not really much new at Sine Wave.

Where are people getting their dances these days? I've got from Vista, Henmations, Studio4D, 3FX, MyAnimation, A&M, and There In Spirit. Is there anywhere else that's good? Bonus points if they have couples dances.

Now is where I'd have some kind of awesome closing sentence, but that's not going to happen right now because I'm watching Jersey Shore. :-p

When left to myself...

You know, I love being a fashion blogger. I really do. I try really really hard to showcase items in the best possible way and I hope against hope that the people that I blog like it. I mean, I've got some creator friends. I know some of them groan when certain bloggers do their stuff. Not to say that they're any less appreciative of the publicity, but of course they'd rather their items be shown off in a nice picture. Because of this, I work really hard to get a nice shot. I am by no means the best photographer in SL. Not. At. All. I seem to be at least on average with people, so that works for me!

But I'll be the first to admit that I don't have the BEST fashion sense. I know what looks WRONG. I watch fashion shows, I read magazines, and I have eyes. I can tell you right away if colors are clashing or if something just looks off. However, when it comes to putting together my own outfits, it can take me a long time! I save pretty much all the outfits I make for the blog so I can have something to easily throw on. It's not uncommon for me to stay in the same outfit for 2 days after I've blogged it simply because I don't know what else to put on. I know. Worse fashionista ever. :-p

Last night while the grid was rushing over to the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser, I decided to go check out Fashion For Life. Oh man, what gorgeous items are there! I found myself in a sim with the most amazing Asian inspired clothing, big fluffy doll dresses, kimono, just...oh my god. It was incredible. I didn't buy any of the dresses because I'm trying really hard to only get things that I know I will wear since my inventory is SUCH a mess, but oh...I was tempted.

I did buy stuff, though. I picked up hair, I picked up boots, I picked up jewelery and a statue. I was putting things on as I was shopping [I like to wear new things right away.] and when I came home to put my statue out, I laughed, because my outfit was just rockin'.

I went to FFL!

This is the kind of outfit I end up wearing when I'm alone. Complete with the carrot riding bunny that flies around me in a circle.

At least it's all for a good cause. Right? Right??

A typical evening...

Aldwyn is busily trying to fix his phone. I'm just standing around watching Showgirls for the 80th time [this year]. We're on Skype and he says, "I'm being boring tonight, I'm sorry."

I run with it. "YES YOU ARE. You are soooo boring. I'm soooooooo bored!! I'm the most bored I've EVER BEEN IN MY LIFE."

"I'm just going to stop talking to you altogether."

"No you're not. You can't quit me. I'm amazing...and I can do the robot."

Robot!

The day he decides he's tired of me and leaves? No one will blame him. At all.

Psst...hey...You lookin' to buy a cat?

Well, the big moment arrived! Audrey and Desi had their first baby!

Dante!

I don't actually know TOO much about cats and traits and whatnot, so here are his stats for those who are interested:

Fur: Genesis - Smokey
Eyes: Fire (Shape: Curious | Pupil: Big)
Shade: Natural
Tail: Genesis
Ears: Genesis
Size: 11 cm (4.3 inch)

I AM selling him. As much as I wish I could keep a bunch of kitties, I simply can't. I mean...look. LOL

So many kitties

It's like kittypalooza up in here!

So dear little Dante will have to go. He really is adorable, don't you think? His eyes are just striking against the dark fur. Here's a close up pic of his fire eyes.

Fire eyes

If you'd like to buy my little kitty, please IM me. I'd love for one of my blog readers to get him rather than some stranger off the streets, you know? Besides...if I don't sell him soon, I'll get attached and end up keeping him and I'm pretty sure that's not going to be good for anyone. :-p Sold! :)

C'mon kitties, get it on!

It's almost sad that my SLife kind of revolves around my kittycats a lot these days.

Cuddling Desi

I decided that if I'm going to have so many cats [I have 8 now], they're going to have to work for me to keep them. And that, of course, means they have to start breeding. But the thing is, breeder cats eat more, so rather than sink too much more money into their food and such, I decided to set 2 to breeder status - Desi and Audrey.

Desi & Audrey

Audrey is ready to go, but Desi still needs 2% more love currently, which he should reach today. Then we'll see what kind of kitten they manage to produce. I'm hoping it's a good enough one that I can sell it and recoup some of the money I've spent so far.

Aldwyn bought me the St. Patrick's Day kitties for our anniversary, and of course they will breed when they are ready, but that's not for a while. Somehow, Griffin was left to breeder status and he's at 100% but no girl to do it with. I decided to set Sabine to be a breeder but she's currently at -215040% love, so uh...yeah.

How did my SLife come to this? LMAO! No, I'm kidding. I love my kitties. But let's all keep our fingers crossed that I get a decent kitten to sell. I'd hate to have to shake it on the side just to keep them in kibble.

Um, in other news... Well, I guess there isn't much other news. Man. I'm boring.

Meow meow

Things have been quiet for me in SL lately. It's a good quiet, but it doesn't make for good blogging, I'm afraid. Mostly when I log in, I sit around, looking at my Kittycats. And as lame as it sounds, I love to watch them. Some days I log in and they're just all over the place, including wedging themselves between the window and the chair, as if they wanted to look outside.

Sabine waiting for the treats delivery person.

They run around, they knock themselves into the little physical balls I have in the living room, they bang into me and ask "What's that smell?", which never fails to make me laugh. They're just CUTE. Last week, Sophia bought 2 kitty birthing boxes with Flame cats. We didn't know what flame cats were, so when one came out and was dark orange and white, I got all excited. She was sweet enough to give me the male. I named him Tony, after my beautiful cat that died in 2007.

My redheads

He's a small kitten in that picture, but now he's big enough to actually cuddle. My kitty family is complete.

Well...kind of.

I decided to set Audrey [my pink Valentine's Day kitty] and Desi [my orange & white Valentine's kitty] to breeder status. I'm just curious as to what they might produce. The bad part is that I know I won't keep the kitten, even if it's adorable. I'll either sell it, or give it to a friend. I cannot keep any more cats!!!

[Please remind me of this when next month I'm crying because I have 37 cats and the island is crushed under the weight.]

Ummm....other than cats, there's not a ton more going on in my SLife. I'm trying to pull myself out of a complete fashion crisis by blogging some stuff, hoping that makes me more excited for fashion, but it doesn't really seem to. I need to have one day where I just sit for 2 hours and sort inventory and make oufits and throw away what I know I won't wear. I'm blogging some stuff for the Pure Juice event too, so luckily that gives me an actual plan on what to blog.

I don't know. I need to get out more in SL. I need to have parties, do hunts, chill with friends. We asked on plurk where people met us, and it's amazing how many people I first met while just hanging out at Zaara's lucky chair. Actually, a lot of people met each other at Zaara's lucky chair. HEY ZAARA. GET SOMETHING IN THE CHAIR!

Anyway, I'm off to go check on my cats and put together an outfit to blog. :)
