Checkin' Out Skins

Since no one was online tonight to play with, I occupied myself bouncing around the grid picking up demo skins from a bunch of places. I discovered 2 things. 1, photorealistic skins make me feel like Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. Seriously, it just feels wrong to me to wear a skin that tries so hard to look like real skin. And 2, it's gonna take an act of God for me to give up my La Sylphide skin - but if I did, I'd pick one from Lovey's Boutique or Gala.

Oh, and I learned some skin sellers [I can't call them creators] have balls the size of Australia with what they're charging for what's basically an Eloh template skin with a new lipstick slapped on it. I went to some store called Bodies By Blake and he had Eloh skins for $1200L each. You know, when I see the skins others modify from the Eloh templates, usually they're given as gifts or sold fairly cheap. Also, the seller's name appears on the skin. Not so at Bodies By Blake! LOL

In between all my skin demo shopping, I saw a notice that Simone Starlet Skins was opening up. [SLurl] Now, I'm not really a fan of Simone clothing. I think she makes gorgeous formals, but her prim skirts are not modifiable, and that's a big big big big fat hairy NO in my shopping world. But these skins are CHEAP at only $200L a pop, and hand rendered, so I'm assuming that means there will be no "OMG, they used Renderosity images!" drama later. So I hopped over to the new sim and was greeted with a welcome kit that contained a free skin in the Caramel tone, and a shape, which is a full foot taller than my own shape, and I just didn't care for it.

The skin.... Well...

The lips. They look almost like they're covered in red foil. The demo skin I bought [$1L demos...grr, stop it!] had almost the same kind of lip to it, although the color was more nude. Maybe some of you will like it more than I did, but I don't think I'll be buying one of these this time around. The great thing about SL is that so many skin designers have several generations of skins that come out over time as they learn new techniques and ways to make things better. :) So I can't wait to see how these evolve over time.

So...quiet night in SL. But that's not a bad thing at all. I actually should have taken the time to get some building done, but scrolling all over looking at the various skin demos was more fun.

Oh, and men? If you're in the mood for a new skin, check out Nomine's store. Her new Windlight series is pretty good, and the male skins look super yummy. :)

Ok, bedtime so I can read some before falling asleep.

And you guys thought you'd get out of it tonight... 4th in the series!

I didn't know what else to call them! They just reminded me of during Christmas when we buy bags of Hershey's Kisses in the red and green foil, and my friends and I put the foil on our lips.

Yes, we are that dumb. LOL But when you're high on chocolate and drunk on margaritas, it makes sense. :)

The rest of the skin is fine, it really is. It's just the lips that will keep me from buying one.

Hey Ali, check this out. I made a Blogger ID.

No I"m not going to start that "Don't" Ch'Know blog that was suggested where I post the items that don't make your blog LOL I just needed it so I could comment on some other blogs that don't allow just a name.

Now pucker up and blow me a kiss with them fancy new lips.
