The Big Bad Blogger Challenge!

So I was talking with Cen yesterday and I made the comment that if you want people to read your blog, you have to update. Then it hit me. How many blogs have I STOPPED reading over the past 6 months because the blogger updates so infrequently, it was almost not worth the time? And for that matter, how many blogs do I spend time going to now that update once a week at most? My hook, if you want to call it that, has been that I update like mad, and mostly about nothing. Now, I'm going to pass my hook to you guys. ;)

The Big Bad Blogger Challenge for June: Update your blog every day for one week starting today, June 6th, and the last challenge post will be June 13th. [It's Friday the 13th next week!]

Now don't get scared! I can hear the thoughts racing now.

"I can't update every day!" Sure, you can. I do. Sometimes 2-3 times.

"I don't have time!" You do. I see some of you in world for hours at a time, and not for business reasons.

"I won't have anything to write about!" Yes, you will. Every night before I go to bed, I'll throw out a question that you can answer in your blog if you choose to answer it. If not, just write about what you did that day in SL, or what you saw, or what topics interest you.

Your blog posts do NOT have to be well thought out and constructed professional posts, they don't have to be very long at all, and I think a lot of you are overthinking your blogs, which is why you do not update. Believe it or not, people enjoy reading just little personal things. Almost all of my posts are unplanned, and I write the way I would sit and have a conversation with almost anyone. I personally would LOVE to get to know some of you better through your blogging. Think of this as a writing exercise, like the busy work that your English or Creative Writing teacher may have given you, or like NaNoWriMo. There's no prize at the end, except for knowing you took on a challenge that really may be a challenge for some of you.

So there you have it, The Big Bad Blogger Challenge. Are you up for it? :)

If so, and if you can't think of anything to write about, here is your question for Friday:

Why did you decide to start blogging about your Second Life?

PS: Don't let this challenge stress you out. It's supposed to be fun. If you honestly don't have time to post one day, just pick it up the next day. :)

Bah. FINE! I'll update more often. *grumbles*

:P

Also, I have one group spot left and can't decide if I want an invitation to the Ch'Know Group or The Deadly Viper Squad. Send me one and surprise me? <3

Yay! I hope Tymmerie takes up the challenge - I REALLY miss her blog. And, phew, I'm good for today, I've already updated! Which is a good thing, since the grid is down... lol

Did you know Truth is having a 50% sale for 48 hours? With the grid down, there's another 24 hours to go. I want to go buy hair dang it! *pouts*

Dammit!.....Here she goes again, making me post. I guess I'm in on this too.

Honestly, I'm probably in that "overthinking" category.

Crap! I'm finding it a difficult time to update my blog when I'm being kept busy responding to novels in my comments section at this current moment.
:-(

Meara - Secret invite sent. :)

Quaintly - I hope all of you take up the challenge! I love reading blogs of people that I like. LOL And yes, I heard about the Truth sale yesterday and HAD to go!!

Oz - Yay! I don't know you, but it's great to see new bloggers getting in on this!!

Dyami - Haha, I make you blog. LOL Don't THINK...just DO.

Wrath - I saw the comment by "Anonymous" in your blog. I was going to write something back, but I don't want to make it worse, which I probably could do because you don't want to see me get my feathers ruffled by someone who is trying to say bad things against my friend.

C said...

What? What did I miss?

*puts on her shit kickers and runs to Wrath's blog*

Oh, for cripes sake :-P You do realize that some of my blog posts are month long projects full of research, writing and rewriting, right? I have one ready for Sunday. Isn't that enough?

I am really not amusing unless I take weeks to think something up. You are all going to be very disappointed. Then when you see me on the grid, you will scowl and throw things at me.

Despite this, I accept the challenge.

Nobody is commenting on my blog... *cries* (yes, that was a hint! :P)

Sometimes it's so hard to update if nobody comments, it makes me feel like nobody is reading *puts on pitiful puppy dog look*

I haven't bought any hair at Truth before, only gotten their dollarbies... I grabbed a bunch of demos this morning and tried them, I want so many I can hear my pixel wallet going "Nooooooooooo!" lmao

I think you are right, as a new blogger, I suffer from "newbie blogger syndrome". I map out my blog post in it's entirety, and then when I'm finished, I read it, re-read it and re-read it again. Constantly changing sentences, correctly spelling and grammar, and then finally POSTing it. But not finished. I STILL re-read it, and STILL make changes. pfff... It's hard work, this blogging. I'm getting better though. This challenge will *definitely* be a challenge. :)

Ok everyone, no throwing things at Tymmerie. Unless it's a water balloon and she's wearing a white shirt. :-p Tymm, I think you underestimate yourself. Don't think, just do! :)

Quaintly - You know something? You're right. I think while the rest of you attempt the BBB challenge, my challenge is to comment more!! I will be the first to admit that I read and don't respond and that needs to stop.

JellyKean - Oh my god, I can't believe you commented here. I am in awe!! And yay for you for taking the challenge! :)

Yay more comments! *claps* Thank you, Alicia! And I'm so stoked Tymmerie is going to take up the challenge. Awesomeness! I love you Ali, you've single-handedly given me a bunch of extra blogs to read every day :D

I have a little hole-in-the-wall blog, but I'm going to try and take up your challenge. There may be a day or two I can't blog because I'll be out of town, but I may be able to update my real life blog from my phone instead. :]

*pokes* Me, Me!!! I wanna do it too!

HI Alicia! I always enjoy reading your blog. I used to blog about my second life. I'm blogging more about what I like to call my third life now. I met my sweetie on SL and we're together now in RL. So SL has had a huge impact on my life and I like to blog about that. So I'm going to take up the big bad blogger challenge! It sounds fun ;) thanks!

I've been reading your blog all night (can't believe I didn't realize it existed before now).

You are hilarious, and I am doing the challenge :-)

Hah! Day Two, Post Two! In yer face, writer's block!

Darn good thing I looked at your blog today or I might have just said "ehhhh... I can write about that tomorrow," and missed telling you all the fascinating details of shopping for furniture with an unborn child in SL. As it is, since I did post yesterday I'm in the race!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Adding your blog to my blogroll and taking up the challenge...albeit a bit late. Looks like I'll be playing catch up!

Can I still participate for the last three days? With the rate SL is locking us out, I'm bound to make some improvement on blog-rate! ;)
