Comedian George Carlin, dead at 71

I was checking the news right before going to bed [habit of mine], and I about had the wind knocked out of me when I saw that George Carlin had died. Yes, crybaby me cried. George Carlin, for all his foul language, was our constant traveling companion when I was a child. On cassettes, of course. My family and I would listen to his comedy routines and it made the trips shorter.

Rest in peace, George. And thank you for the laughs.

Oh wow!!!!! I did not know this until I read your blog! How sad! He was such a gifted man - so creative!

I also think it is hilarious that your parents let you listen to him with all his cussing. LOL. I guess his wit makes up for a bit of foul language.

Right there with ya, Ali. Grew up listening to tons of Carlin material. Farewell to the first host of SNL. Sad news. :-(

lmao I know i'll probably get attacked for saying this :p

But I really didn't like him, anyone can be funny with crude humour and negativity.

It takes a lot more of a comedian to be funny without being so negative..

lmao I don't like negativity!! Okay throw your bananas at me!! lmao

Get ready to duck, calista! ;)

I am right there with you, Alicia. I loved his wit and the way he flipped his nose at the "establishment" at that time. He wasn't afraid to say all the things a lot of us were thinking. And pointed at the absurdity of some of the "rules." He will be missed. Thanks for paying homage! :)
